Itochu was born in Osaka, Japan in the distant 1858, thanks to the textile business founded by the fifteen year old Chubei Itoh.

The company developed over time, founding branches and representative offices in many countries around the world, marketing all types of products.

In 1959, a representative office was founded in Italy, transformed into a SpA after 5 years with the name of C. Itoh & Co. Italiana SpA, with direct or indirect majority shareholder C. Itoh & Co .LTD.

At the beginning the most important activity was represented by the sale of frozen fish with silk.

Later the company expanded and diversified its activities, especially in the steel sector in the 70s and fashion in the 90s.

In July 1992 the company name changed to become Itochu Italiana SpA, increasing maintaining relations with the most important Italian companies in the import, export, brokerage and investment activities.
